In
Memory of my Uncle Michael
More photos below
Twenty years ago my uncle volunteered for work as an assistant director
of a musical for our local high school. Effingham High School did contain
a large population of students. The students interested in the extracucular
drama events was naturally small. One night on his way to the school,
he asked if I wanted to tag along. My uncle and I were more like older
brother-younger brother for as long as I can remember. But I knew what
he was up to and stated I did not want to be in any musical. He said
that I was just to tag along and didn't have to try out for the musical.
Well, funny thing happened while I was sitting there watching the
auditions of the school musical. The director ran out of students during
the audition. My uncle asked me on the side if I wanted to try out for
a small part. I refused, indicating my lack of singing ability. To keep
a long story short....my uncle with several high school friends of mine
talked me into singing "Mary had a little lamb". And I was
granted two small parts in the musical "Lil Amber".
Halloween Horror Nights was sort of the same thing. He talked me into
at least going to the audition on the grounds it wouldn't hurt me. He
knew the acting bug bite me years before and poked the right buttons
to get me into the acting thing again. To my uncle, I give all credit
for my past, present and future acting endevours. I will miss him greatly.
